    Inspired by court case, 2 area Native American women act to stand ground

    Two Oklahoma women are working to raise awareness about an often misunderstood federal law regarding the adoption of Native American children.

    Standing Our Ground for Children, formed in July 2013 by Nicky Michael, who is Delaware, and Johna James, who is Chickasaw, aims to be a voice for families affected when the Indian Child Welfare Act is ignored or belittled. The act helps keep Native children with their tribe, a family member or at least placed in a home that shares their culture.

    OU bike share program a hit in first few months  

    Summer is always slower on campus, but this summer students can get around a little faster thanks to OU’s new bike share program.

    Nearing its third month of operation, the Crimson Cruisers program is a resounding success. In its first month alone, it provided more than 10,000 rides, according to The OU Daily.

    ‘The fight is never over,’ OU’s Steven Parker says of dealing with race in America

    Two-plus years after a racist SAE fraternity chant rocked OU, two Sooner football players are doing their part to make sure the lessons their team learned aren’t forgotten as they enter their senior years.

    Kali's Profile

    Kali Miller’s strength is something that she acquired after a number of moves and meeting people she didn’t realize at the time would change her for the better. Instead of dealing with the difficulties of constantly moving in unhealthy manners, she found solace in the theater. It was there that she found the confidence and strength she needed to cope.

    “If I hadn’t chosen theater as an elective, my whole middle school career would have been completely different, definitely for the worst if you ask me,” Kali said.
